Oasis Beauty grew from small beginnings

Oasis Beauty had a big night at the North Canterbury Business Awards gala dinner earlier this month.

The Oxford business won two awards: the North Canterbury News People’s Choice Award and the Westpac Manufacturing Award.

“We had a brilliant night. It was really great to win two awards,” Ian Kimpton said.

He is now a “fulltime Oasis Girl” after being involved part time for the last 15 years.

Ian’s partner, Stephanie Evans, established the business in 2005 after creating a skin cream for her own sensitive skin in the couple’s kitchen. That was 15 years ago.

“She had a skin issue. We were struggling to pay the mortgage so we couldn’t afford expensive skin cream products.

She started making her own and we went from there,” he said.

The product worked well for Stephanie and she soon discovered many other people with sensitive skin like hers also loved her product.

She has since added other high-performance natural skin care products to the Oasis range, including an SPF30 sunscreen, Rhino Repair, the Hydrator, Fruit Smoothie, Light Milk, Lips and Lashes, Power Punch and many more.

From an initial small base selling mainly to family and friends, her products are now in big demand selling on the Oasis Beauty NZ website (www.oasisbeauty.com) and at many pharmacies and health stores all around New Zealand, including Health 2000 Rangiora, Life Pharmacy Rangiora, Kaiapoi Pharmacy and Oxford Pharmacy in North Canterbury.

“We are a long-time coming overnight sensation,” Ian said.

The business was named Oasis after their South Island backyard under a big blue sky.

“It’s here that we create natural skin and sun-care products to protect us in this pristine environment that has the strongest sunlight in the world,” Stephanie said.

All of the Oasis team love animals. This is reflected in their products, none of which are tested on animals. Oasis also supports animal charities including World Animal Protection, SAFE, Hedgehog Rescue New Zealand and the Oxford Bird Rescue.

They have also provided a home for many rescue animals including Tom the Pig. Tom is a star on the Oasis website where you can check out the adorable photos and videos of him, his girlfriend Barbie and all the other animals at this Oasis pet heaven.

“No-one really knows what I do at Oasis Beauty and I like to keep it that way,” Tom tells website browsers. “My skin care regime is rolling in mud but I do use Oasis Sun SPF30 when I’m out and about and Rhino Repair to keep my skin in good condition. My primary focus is getting treats of a food variety.”

Ian said the company’s success at the business awards was a reflection of their commitment to their customers which were at the heart of every decision they made.

“It is a reflection of the good rapport and relationship we have with our customers,” he said. “That shone through.”Buy Sneakersnike lunar janoski black and gold swoosh blue
