Rangiora women win

The Rangiora Hockey Club’s Division 3 men’s team dominated its match last weekend, but struggled to find the back of the goal and had to settle for a 1-all draw against Malvern.
Down by a goal at half-time the Rangiora team kept up the pressure in the second-half and were finally awarded a goal to Ben Findlayson from a penalty corner.
John Single and Damian Allerby initiated some strong attacking chances throughout the game, but were shut down by Malvern’s solid defence and some excellent saves by the goal-keeper.
Meanwhile the three women’s teams and the under-18 youth girl’s team all had good wins to stay at or near the top of their competition ladders and will be confident going into the last few rounds before the finals later in the month.
The under-18 youth boy’s team also had a good win over St Bede’s College to hold on to fourth place in the grade.
