Shearing makes return

Competition shearing will return to the Oxford A&P Show on March 31.

The competition, run under Shearing Sports New Zealand rules, did not feature at last year’s show, leaving many who enjoyed the skill and spectacle of the competition disappointed.

It is being revived by two young community members, Joseph Mercer and Jason Skurr and has already attracted great sponsorship support and prize money.

There will be classes for open, senior, intermediate, junior and blade shearers, with competition starting at 8.30am.

Open heats will be run before lunch, while the blade shearing start time is 9.30am.

Competitors can enter on the day or with the secretary beforehand by emailing secretary@oxfordapshow.co.nz.
