Trevor Stanley bought four trailer-loads of car parts in 1984.

After three years of careful restoration work by the Amberley classic car enthusiast, his 1937 Chrysler Cabriolet was brought back to life.

The rare convertible, which won a Restoration of the Year award, will take pride of place in the latest rally being organised by Trevor, on Sunday, November 15.

All soft-top vehicles, from the early 1900s right through to 2020, are invited to take part in the first open-cars only country rally.

It starts from the Better Half Kitchen & Bar in Leithfield between 10.30am and 11.30am, and is a scenic tour of 56km finishing at the lunch venue, which is possibly the largest nostalgia museum in New Zealand.

The entry fee is $15 a vehicle. Money raised will be donated to the Amberley Menz Shed.
