The cat in the hat had everything down pat in a polished performance at the Rangiora Town Hall last Sunday morning.
The performance was one of two Rangiora shows held on Sunday of the stage production Dr Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat
The show portraying the madcap children’s tale was part of a sold-out nationwide tour which began in Auckland last month and ends in Tauranga on October 28.
Its producer, Layton Lillas, of Showcase Entertainment, said his company usually specialised in shows more for adults, but had been inspired to produce shows for children because of his daughter, Nikita, aged 4.
“When you have a little one in the house you begin to look at things to entertain them,” he said. Dr Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat was the first time he had brought a production to Rangiora and he was impressed with the town hall venue.
“You have this beautiful old building with a wonderfully modern infrastructure.”
He was thrilled with the support the show received in Rangiora.
“A sold-out show is just what you are looking for in a venue,’ he says. Layton is now contemplating bringing more shows to to town, possibly including English rock band Herman’s Hermits, during their tour of New Zealand next year.Buy KicksBěžecké tretry Nike
