An action-packed weekend is planned to celebrate the arrival of spring and 125 years of settlement in the Cheviot district.
The weekend will remember the past and look to the future. It starts with an event at Mt Beautiful Two Rivers on Friday, September 7, at 5pm, and a Lions Quiz Night at the Cheviot Hotel at 7pm.
A fete, with around 60 market stalls, will open at 10am, Saturday.
There will be a decorated business competition, a Plunket family fun day, a hanging basket competition, fashion parade, floral display and a historic trail launch.
From 11am to 2pm, David Anderson will run guided walks in the Cheviot Domain and at 6.30pm a Through the Years Ball will be held at the Cheviot Rugby clubrooms.
A total of 200 tickets will go on sale for the mid-July ball through eventfinda.co.nz. Tickets include a meal, the band, and a courtesy bus home if required.
On Sunday, there will be a tree-planting in the domain before a service at Knox Church, followed by the unveiling of the brick Celtic Cross memorial and lunch.
