There were Pimms, a birthday cake, balloons, celebrities and four special guests taking centre stage at a celebration in Amberley on Monday.
All were celebrating the 25th birthday of the Christmas Country Fete near Culverden, which this year will be held on Thursday, October 27.
The special guests were the four original Fete gals – Jossy Davison, Sue Gardner, Fiz Rutherford and Lou Davison.
Blaise Davison, Charlotte Rutherford, Flicka Williams and Lou, the only remaining member of the original founders, form today’s te team.
Kaikoura MP Stuart Smith and Hurunui Mayor Winton Dalley turned out for the birthday bash where the cake was cut and reminiscing began.
This year there are over 200 stalls showcasing the best of New Zealand art, furniture, jewellery, fashion, garden products, body care, gifts for kids and loads of fresh local food and wine. Of these some 26 are local stalls.
Around 5000 people from far and wide are expected to attend the annual fte to get some early Christmas shopping done, enjoy the festival vibe or just kick back and listen to live music by The Starlets.
Ben Warren, a leading New Zealand nutrition and holistic health expert will give two demonstrations and speak about “Hormonal Happiness for weight Loss, Energy and Vitality” while the Art Hangar, which has become a permanent feature of the fte will have many paintings to view.
There will be the largest choice ever of exciting food with Pimms, wines, Lemoncello and more also available.
