North Canterbury Musicals aims to lift community spirits in the Covid-19 era with a “bit of magic” in a new show.

Retrospective: A Decade of Favourites will be performed in the Rangiora Town Hall, with 7pm shows on October 9 and 10, and a 2pm matinee on October 11. It is hoped the community will support the shows and take the chance to hire glamorous outfits from the group’s costume hire shop to wear to the event.

“Covid-19 has hit our communities hard. No-one has been left unaffected,” its executive committee secretary and production manager for the show, Angela Peverill, said.

The group postponed its 2020 feature show Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat until 2021, leaving it without revenue for the year.

“We all need something to look forward to, performers and audience alike,” Angela says. “We decided it was time to put on a bit of magic to lift everyone’s spirits. So we are bringing back a selection of songs and performers from the last 10 years of our shows, and putting them all together into one spine-tingling concert.

“We are so excited and proud to welcome back some of Canterbury’s top singers who have agreed to come and perform in this show.”

The show will include songs from Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, Aida, The Sound of Music and more. Tickets go on sale on September 1, through iTICKET and cost $25.Authentic Sneakersadidas Yeezy Boost 350
