Amberley School wants families seeking a challenge to compete in its new Rellie Challenge on September 23.
The event is a mystery adventure race in which an adult and child aged between 5 and 13 race together against the clock and other family teams to locate and complete 10 mystery challenges.
The parent, relative, friend or guardian competing alongside the child has to be aged over 17. Challenges range from physical activities, such as a tug-of-war, to mental tasks and knowledge-based current affair missions.
It is hoped the event will become an annual fundraiser for the school.
With the Amberley Domain next door, it was decided that turning on a fun, family event in the reserve could prove to be a great community attraction.
The challenges are all designed to strengthen family bonds and deliver bucket-loads of self-esteem to students.
The event’s name, using slang for relative, adds flavour to the challenge for the teams to compete for bragging rights.
The cost is $40 per team, which includes T-shirts for both team members.
